Join us at Brookfield Congregational Church as we begin the season of Lent together.

Ash Wednesday marks a time of reflection, repentance, and renewal, reminding us of our humanity and God’s grace as we prepare our hearts for Easter. The ashes symbolize both humility and hope — that even from dust, God brings new life.

The ashes are traditionally made by burning the palm branches from last year’s Palm Sunday, connecting celebration with repentance and renewal.

Ashes appear throughout Scripture as signs of humility and repentance — including Genesis 18:27, Job 42:6, Daniel 9:3, and Matthew 11:21.

Ash Wednesday is observed by many Christian traditions, including Catholic, Lutheran, Episcopal, Methodist, Presbyterian, and United Church of Christ congregations.

All are welcome. Come as you are.
